Doggie research.

So I've been on the net for the last hr and a half, looking up everything I should know about Lucy's breed. Like common illness for her breed, complications, etc. I love doing research. :o) Makes me feel so much smarter, plus it helps us be able to understand everything she will need. So been making a list, plus looking up a vet for her to start going to here.

Can't wait to bring her home. Bryce is very excited to see her, he keeps asking when his doggy will be home. Oh yes, its not our doggy its his doggy, lol. Vance is going to take her shopping since we'll be getting his bonus in a week. Have a nice list of things to buy her and working on putting her in a obedience classes here. Found a really nice place that will teach her basic, advance and attack commands. Even teach her how to disarm someone with a weapon if they try to break in. Which will make me feel alot safer when I'm home alone. Especially when Vance goes back to a boat.

So far I've learned that she needs to be put on a special diet of lamb, chicken and rice. Other stuff can cause her to get urinary stones. Dalmations get them easily. Also learned that they are more prone to skin allergys from fleas, weeds, fungus on grass, etc. Plus I read that they over lick themselves causing them to get sores easily. That they have very sensitve skin. More interesting fact is that 20% of dalmations are born deaf. I never knew that. Lucy isn't deaf though. Some have hip problems later on in life. That she will need a nice bed to lay on and rest. Which Vance has a 52 inch bed in mind to get her. He's very pumped up about bringing her home.

Going to take her to the vet. in Texas, get her a check up and shots. When we get home, I'll look into getting her fixed. We don't want puppys. One dog is enough. As you can tell I'm excited and so is Vance. I've been telling him all these facts about her breed since I started looking it all up. Well I need to get going, the boys are going to bed early. Been a long day, need to get them cleaned up and ready for bed.
